Discount fashion brand to anchor extension to Chequers shopping centre

Manormaker (a joint venture between The Churchmanor Estates Company and BP Pension scheme), has announced TK Maxx as a new tenant for the extension to the Chequers shopping centre in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire.

The international off-price retailer has signed a 15-year lease for a 20,000-sq ft unit at the centre, which is currently undergoing a significant extension adjacent to the existing retail offer. This is due to complete in late Summer 2017, with Next and M&S Food Hall returning to the town centre for the first time in five years.

Other existing occupiers include Superdrug, Vision Express, Sports Direct and Clarks.

Manormaker director Stephen Clark said: “Chequers shopping centre is the main shopping destination in the local area and the extension will see nine additional retailers opening. The signing of TK Maxx, which follows the announcement of Next and M&S Food Hall opening as anchor stores, demonstrates confidence in both Huntingdon and the shopping centre.

MMX Retail is the retained agent.
