£75m Queen’s Parade regeneration scheme unveiled.

Northern Ireland’s Department for Communities and Ards and North Down Borough Council have selected the Angelvale Consortium as preferred developer for the redevelopment of Queen’s Parade in Bangor. Led by Cubic3, as investment manager and development director, the consortium includes Beannchor, Clanmil and McLaughlin & Harvey contractors.

Proposals for the phased £75m mixed-use development scheme will reconnect the marina with the town and include zones for leisure, entertainment residential, retail and water sports, as well as proposing a new wellbeing centre. At the core of the scheme is a new waterside 80-bed signature hotel and public piazza with access for the public to the marina and water sports centre.

This 5.26-ha site is an opportunity to transform the seafront onto Irelands 2nd largest 5 gold anchor marina and also create an economic pulse in the region. Cubic believes the proposed transformation to be a deliverable solution in 2020, where Angelvale will not only deliver the initial investment but manage the assets and events in partnership with the council and other stakeholders.

Cubic, working with a design team lead by FaulknerBrowns Architects and including Richard Murphy Architects, Arups and Hamilton Architects, developed a mixed use proposal with a wide range of facilities to balance indoor and outdoor, daytime and evening and social andcommercial activity.
