Australian stationer chooses Dundrum for Ireland debut

At Dundrum, Smiggle’s 1,100-sq ft store, located on level three of the centre, will again mark an important country-debut for the brand when it opens its doors in April. Already a key part of the tenant mix in a number of Hammerson’s 10 UK leading retail destinations, Dundrum provides a prominent launchpad for Smiggle’s entry into the Irish market.

The signing is part of a number of asset management initiatives implemented since Hammerson secured ownership of Dundrum in 2016. The recent signing of Moss Bros boosts the tenant mix at the centre, with the formal menswear retailer set to open only its second store in Ireland. More recently Poco by Pippa O’Connor has taken a pop-up store at the centre.

Since its London launch in 2014, Smiggle’s brand of colourful, fun and fashion-forward stationery has expanded rapidly in the UK, opening 90 stores, with Hammerson welcoming the brand’s first Scottish store to its Silverburn centre in Glasgow last year.

Simon Betty, director of retail, Ireland, said: “For Smiggle to choose Dundrum to debut in Ireland is a fantastic result, and is testament to the centre’s strength and reputation as the gateway for international brands looking to launch in Ireland. We are constantly working to bring new and exciting brands to Dundrum, and will continue to leverage our relationships with both domestic and international retailers to bring the best to the centre.”
