Mansford appoints Manchester-based Crowd UK as managing agent
The landmark, Grade II* listed building on Manchester’s Deansgate was built in 1871 and features one of the finest examples of an iron and glass domed roof in the country. Spread across four floors, the building provides 24,413 sq fft of retail space and 20,531 sq ft of offices overlooking the arcade.
The 13 retail and leisure units are predominantly occupied by independent stores and eateries, with existing tenants including Lunya, Pot Kettle Black, Barber Barber and Jeffrey West. There is also a substantial sub-basement for which a variety of uses are being explored.
Part of Crowd UK’s remit will be to implement a placemaking strategy and bring to life the building’s arcade area. Crowd UK director Andy Philips said: “Barton Arcade is one of Manchester’s hidden gems, yet is in a prime location with entrances on Deansgate and St Ann’s Square. It is a fantastic building with massive potential and we look forward to working with Mansford to take Barton Arcade to the next level.”
