Islington Square appoints CBRE as managing agent
Sager Group and Cain Hoy have appointed CBRE Asset Services UK to act as property and estate manager for the £400m Islington Square development currently under construction in north London.
The mixed-use development spans 4.5 acres and includes the Grade II-listed former Post Office, together with a collection of buildings previously occupied by the North London Royal Mail sorting and delivery centre. Islington Square will deliver 170,000 sq ft of retail and leisure space, 263 high-quality new homes, 108 serviced apartments, modern office space, and exceptional new public realm. It will open up this part of Islington by creating three interconnected retail streets off Islington’s Upper Street, in the form of two new retail arcades and a tree-lined boulevard.
Already over 66 per cent of the retail and leisure space at Islington Square has exchanged, is in solicitors’ hands or is being negotiated and over 50 per cent of the residential accommodation has been sold. Ahead of opening, pre-lets have been secured with Third Space (to open its first family gym concept) and The Lounge, by Odeon; Citadeans has been signed to operate the 108 serviced apartments; and Family Mosiac will run the affordable housing provision
Chris Dunn, development manager at Sager Group Islington Square, said: “Throughout the early design stages and into the development phase of the project we have appointed best-in-class consultants who share our vision to create a leading scheme at Islington Square. The team at CBRE clearly embody this, and we look forward to working closely with them over the coming months and years as the full potential is realised and we maximise Islington Square’s unique offer.”
