LaSalle-owned Warrington centre signs up 12 new tenants in H1
Warrington’s Golden Square has enjoyed a successful first half of 2016, with 12 new tenants already signed up and more on the way as retailers seek to share in the scheme’s growing success following a period of continued development and investment.
Recent additions to the more than 800,000 sq ft scheme include Australian stationery brand Smiggle taking 1,081 sq ft of space, jewellery giant Pandora which has doubled its unit size to 1,163 sq ft capitalising on its huge popularity, and entertainment specialists HMV have taken a 10,510-sq ft unit.
Other recent additions to Golden Square include the national restaurant chain Prezzo with a 5,600 sq ft unit and fashion retailer Select taking a lease on a 5,133 sq ft unit. Outdoor and camping specialists Millets have also recently moved into a substantially larger, 1,983 unit. Existing tenants Swarovski, Schuh, Starbucks, H Samuel, and Sayers the Bakers have all recently extended their leases.
Gavin Ingram, national director with LaSalle Investment Management, commented “With an excellent selection of brands and independent traders across 140 units and an annual footfall of 13 million, Golden Square has become the premier destination for customers looking for great stores or somewhere to relax. This popularity with consumers has led to the scheme becoming a very attractive proposition for retailers, with more than 12 deals being completed in the first half of this year alone and 17 currently in the hands of solicitors.”
“Looking to the future,” he continued, “we are in discussions with a number of global retailer brands and are also further developing the food and drink offering of the scheme. Following the successful opening of Prezzo, we are moving forward with a plan to expand the catering and leisure offering in the centre’s Old Market Square, and are in discussions with a number of brands with a view to expanding the catering offering in what is an attractive, open air environment.”
