Nationwide event, sponsored by CBRE, raises over £50,000 for children’s charities so far
This year’s One Great Day charity event, taking place at 75 shopping centres across the UK, has raised over £50,000 for Great Ormond Street children’s’ hospital and other children’s charities.
Under the banner of Fun Raising for Children, the event kicked off with a charity 5K race from sponsor CBRE’s offices in London’s West End to Great Ormond Street. Teams of five from BMO Real Estate Partners, Ellandi, NewRiver and Capital & Regional raised £7,000 between them.
One Great Day’s flagship event at BMO’s St Christopher’s Place was hosted by Sky Sports News presenter Olivia Wayne, and over 40 teams took place in the Cyclathon, held in association with Fitness First. Contestants took part between 8am and 6pm with the winning team, appropriately, consisting of BMO staff.
One Great Day now covers over 20m sq ft of retail space across the United Kingdom, from Folkestone to Aberdeen and nearly everywhere in between. This year saw more centres take part in fund raising events, with a total of 75 now involved. And 2016 has seen One Great Day raise over £50,000 so far, attracting thousands of people around the nation and helping children’s charities throughout the country.
Zvi Noé, director of investments at BMO Real Estate Partners and founder of One Great Day, said: “We are delighted to have involved more people than ever in the numerous initiatives, attracting bigger audiences, generating greater awareness, engaging with retailers and customers and ultimately raising more money for Great Ormond Street and 50 other children’s charities. This was our goal at the start, and we have huge ambitions for the charity to grow every year and to take place in every shopping centre in the UK in order to give support to those who need it the most. We are incredibly grateful to all those who took part.”
