Multi-million pound leisure development takes to the air in EK
A spectacular aerial walkway and three-storey-high climbing wall are set to provide the focal point for a multi-million pound leisure development at Scotland’s largest undercover shopping centre.
Aerial Adventures will sit alongside 11 new restaurants and cafes, a refurbished ice rink, state-of-the-art fitness centre, soft play area and existing nine-screen Odeon cinema in the 70,000-sq ft development at EK East Kilbride.
With a breath-taking position 50 feet above the centre’s ice rink, the Hi-Ride adventure walkway will give thrill-seekers a bird’s-eye view over the £10m leisure complex as they negotiate a series of challenging obstacles, while the climbing wall will provide a variety of routes suitable for climbers of all skill levels.
The leisure hub is scheduled to open later this year and the centre has confirmed that Frankie & Benny’s, Chiquito, Pizza Express, Handmade Burger Co, Bella Italia, Nandos and Filling Station will take units ranging in size from 3,500 sq ft to 5,000 sq ft. In addition Pure Gym has also opened an 11,010-sq ft fitness centre in the hub.
Centre director Ian McLelland, said: “Our aim has always been to create an exciting family focused destination that provides visitors to EK East Kilbride with a host of fantastic leisure opportunities. The restaurants, cinema, ice rink and gym certainly offer this variety and there is no doubt that the addition of Aerial Adventures has now taken the leisure hub to a new level.
“We look forward to our new tenants starting to fit out their units this summer in preparation for an opening in late 2016.”
