Grand Central wins BCSC Gold

Network Rail and Birmingham City Councilís Grand Central named best new centre of the year
The John Lewis-anchored shopping centre above the revamped New Street station won the BCSCís top accolade at the annual awards dinner at Londonís Grosvenor House.
In addition Queensberry Real Estate and Aviva Investors won Catering and Leisure Destination of the Year for The Corn Exchange in Manchester; Hark Groupís Clayton Square, Liverpool won the Refurbishment/Extension of the Year Award under £5m while intu Eldon Square, Newcastle won Refurbishment/Extension of the Year Award over £5m. Costa and Hammerson won the Sustainability Award for the EcoPod at Telford Wrekin retail park, Telford and the John Lewis Partnership was named Occupier of the Year.
Peter Courtney, chair of the Gold Awards jury and director at Lunson Mitchenall said: ďAs a jury, we had a difficult task this year as the calibre of entries was incredibly impressive. The dinner also marked the end of Hammerson chief executive David Atkinsí presidency of the BCSC. He was succeeded by Capital & Regional director Mark Bourgeois. Harkís Mark Williams becomes junior vice president.
