Ealing Broadway celebrates 30th birthday

Published:  12 March, 2015

Ealing Broadway shopping centre has celebrated 30 years at the centre of the London borough's community.†

The anniversary party was attended by local politicians, dignitaries, charities, retailers and hundreds of local shoppers.

The Mayor of Ealing cut a specially-commissioned cake modelled on the centreís iconic Town Square and handed out more than 300 pieces to shoppers and retail staff. The centre was opened by the Queen on 7 March 1985.

British Land bought Ealing Broadway in 2013 and has developed a comprehensive masterplan to refurbish and extend the centre. The first phase of a £12.5m programme to refurbish and modernise the centre was completed in 2014. The remaining phases will be delivered this year, subject to planning.

Ealing will benefit from significant levels of development in the borough including a new cinema anchored leisure scheme, the Dickens Yard residential quarter, Benson Elliotís residential scheme and Crossrail, which completes in 2018.
