New security manager at Pyramids

A new security manager and former police inspector is on the beat at Pyramids shopping centre in Birkenhead.

Mark Shepherd will head up the centre’s security team, having spent 32 years in the police force.

“I did 32 years with Merseyside Police and left with the rank of inspector,” said Mark. “I actually started in Birkenhead around the shopping centre area as a probationary constable so I’ve come full circle really.

“I’m going to head up a team of about 15 responsible for covering all the security aspects of Pyramids shopping centre. I’ve got good local knowledge and having dealt with all the different aspects of crime and the people involved should give me a good insight into the role.

“The best proof that we’re working well is when people don’t even notice us. If everyone can come and shop happily and safely and not even know that we’re there then we must be doing something right.”

Derek Millar, commercial director for Pyramids shopping centre, added: “Mark joins an experienced shopping centre management team who are there to ensure the smooth running of the Pyramids. We are committed to providing the best possible shopping experience for our 14m a year visitors and we want those shoppers to feel relaxed, happy and enjoy their experience with us.”
