Footfall soars 25 per cent as crowds flock to Tour de France

The Tour de France has captured the imagination of the UK retail sector more than ever this year, and following the Grand Départ, just streets away from Trinity Leeds, footfall on Saturday 5 July in the centre reached 96,633 - an increase of 25 per cent on the previous Saturday.

A countdown clock at Land Securities' award-winning shopping centre signalled the start of the world’s most prestigious bike race.

And a Tour de France pop-up shop at Trinity Leeds proved popular with the growing number of cycling fans in the region following The Grand Départ, with an estimated three million visitors descending on Yorkshire over the weekend.
