Old Market to open its doors 93% pre-let

Published:  16 April, 2014

After a run of recent deals, the £90m Old Market shopping centre in the heart of Hereford city centre is now 93 per cent let and under offer by area.

The line-up includes an 85,000 sq ft Debenhams department store, a 24,000 sq ft Waitrose, a six-screen Odeon cinema, TK Maxx, Next, H&M, Outfit, Fat Face, Clarks, L’Occitane, Costa, Zizzi, Frankie & Benny’s, Miller & Carter, Nando’s, Prezzo and Chimichanga.

With the first stores opening on Friday 9 May, Old Market – which is being developed by Stanhope and funded by British Land - is the only new retail led development opening in the UK this year.

The 310,000 sq ft open-air retail and leisure scheme, on the site of Hereford’s former livestock market, comprises 18 retail units, eight restaurants, a cafe, five kiosks, a six-screen Odeon cinema, 600 car park spaces and new public squares and spaces.

The development is the most significant retail and leisure development seen in Hereford for twenty five years and is being delivered at a time of major regeneration in the city, with the introduction of the Rotherwas Enterprise Zone and significant new housing being developed.

The scheme was designed by Allies and Morrison and Leslie Jones and built by Sir Robert McAlpine. The letting agents are Strutt & Parker, Green & Partners and Cushman & Wakefield. The managing agent is Smith Young.
