The capital’s first ever designer outlet has opened today in Wembley.
London Designer Outlet offers 350,000 sq ft of retail and leisure, including space for 70 retail units and 15 restaurants.
Retailers signed up on opening day include M&S, Superdry, H&M, Gap, Denby, Lindt, L.K Bennett, Guess and Nike Factory Store, while the catering element includes Handmade Burger Company, Cabana, Nando’s, Pizza Express, T.G.I Friday’s and Wagamama. The full array of shops – all offering up to 70 per cent discounts on current season lines – will be open for business in spring 2014.
The launch also marks the completion of the first phase of the major new Wembley Park development being created by Quintain, and will be fully integrated into Wembley’s existing offering. Located next to Wembley Stadium, Wembley Arena and a new four star Hilton hotel, London Designer Outlet is easily accessible by rail, road and Tube. And with 10.4m people living within a 60-minute drive of the centre, and 782,000 people within 20 minute drive, it has the largest catchment density for any UK outlet.
Launch day has been timed to coincide with the start of school half-term break, maximising the opportunity for families to attend and enjoy the festivities which will start at 11:00 and run through until 14:00. Opening day events will include a preview of the Sitare festival, or festival of lights, conceived by the artist behind outdoor performances for FIFA and London’s Paralympics 2012, a Bollywood dance spectacle and the Bargainista Blitz Squad, who will direct visitors to the best deals.
London Designer Outlet will also be announcing a number of competitions and initiatives, each providing the opportunity for locals and Londoners to showcase their talent, skills and passion for fashion, food, music or sport.
James Saunders, COO for Quintain, said: “For us, London Designer Outlet has always been a development about and for the local community and we wanted the launch activities to represent this. Therefore the programme for launch day and onwards focuses on our neighbours, the LDO community, and the rich culture, diversity and talent that exists here in Wembley and the surrounding areas.”
