Northern Ireland's Environment Minister, Edwin Poots, has approved plans for a major redevelopment of the Dairy Farm Shopping Centre in Dunmurry, near Lisburn.
J P Properties has won approval for its plan to redevelop the Dairy Farm centre with a new 70,000-sq ft food superstore supported by another 70,000 sq ft of unit shopping, a petrol stattion and 17,000 sq ft of office units. The scheme also includes a gym and the retention of the existing library. Construction is expected to take two years.
Announcing his decision, Minister Poots said: "When complete, the new Dairy Farm Shopping Centre will not only provide permanent employment opportunities but it will also benefit local businesses by providing quality premises close to main transport routes, a further positive outcome in support of the Northern Ireland economy."
Centre manager Sean Toal said: "This approval marks the beginning of an exciting new future for the Dairy Farm Shopping Centre and we are looking forward to welcoming new and existing customers to what will become the main shopping and community hub within the area."
