Aberdeen Asset Management has agreed a new 15-year lease for Toys R Us.

The new agreement sees the retailer relocating from its existing unit at Roaring Meg retail park in Stevenage to a brand new 20,000 sq ft unit at the scheme.

Phil Huby, head of retail asset management UK, Aberdeen Asset Management, said the move was part of the first phase of a two-year redevelopment.

“We have enjoyed a period of tremendous growth and success in the region, underlined by our commitment to invest in the future development of this scheme,” said Huby. “The decision of Toys R Us to relocate to the new premises and continue a long-standing relationship with us and the park, signals the beginning of a series of exciting developments at the scheme which we will be implementing over the coming months. The next phase will see the unit vacated as part of this relocation making way for a 100,000 sq ft Debenhams department store, with more development deals to be announced in the near future once they have been finalised.”
