Swarovksi and Subway agree terms at The Mall Blackburn.

Swarovski has selected The Mall Blackburn as the location for its third boutique in Lancashire, and will occupy a 2,100 sq ft unit on the centre’s Cobden Court mall. And Subway has signed a lease for a 1,400 sq ft unit, joining Ed’s Easy Diner and independent coffee shop Rhode Island, which opened earlier in the year.

These deals complete as Capital & Regional brings forward a £3m refurbishment of the north west corner of the centre, which includes the creation of a 15,700 sq ft gym, to be operated by Pure Gym, and a new expanded entrance on Ainsworth Street.

Will Blake, retail asset manager, Capital & Regional, said: “Since 2010 we have invested almost £70m in The Mall Blackburn, which has not only modernised the centre, but has helped reinforce its position as one of the area’s leading retail destinations.

“This creates a platform from which to evolve the retail-mix; Swarovski is symptomatic of the type of brand we are confident of attracting and a reflection of the strong trading performance of jewellers in the centre. Alongside this, we will be developing the F&B offer, in line with our ‘Beyond Retail’ strategy which will inform our approach across all of our shopping centre assets.”
