Peacocks has opened a new 5,800-sq ft store in the Parkhead mall
The deal follows the arrival of Toys R Us in a 10,000-sq ft store before Christmas, and a number of other new lettings including The Works and Vodafone.
Located close to the junction of the M8 and the M74 and just ten minutes drive from the city centre, The Forge offers 450,000 sq ft of shopping with over 70 high street stores and over 1600 free car parking spaces. The centre also benefits from a four screen cinema and an 8,000 sq ft family entertainment centre.
Anchored by one of Scotland’s biggest Asda superstores, it is home to retailers like River Island, H&M and Primark. It was purchased by Belfast Office Properties in 2006. Originally built in 1987, The Forge was named after a local steel works which closed in the late 1970s.
Ross Wilkie, associate at Cushman & Wakefield, joint letting agent with Lambert Smith Hampton, said: “Peacocks is a fantastic addition to the fashion mix at The Forge, which has hugely benefitted from an £8m refurbishment programme by the present owners. In addition, we have two further lettings under offer to leading national brands which will continue to strengthen the tenant mix further.”
