Westgate Alliance, the joint venture between Land Securities and The Crown Estate, has signed a five-screen Curzon Cinema and a flagship Michael Kors store to its development, Westgate Oxford.

Curzon Cinemas has signed a 21,690-sq ft boutique cinema space at Westgate. And international fashion success Michael Kors has agreed to take a 2,217-sq ft unit. The development has already secured John Lewis for 142,000 sq ft and a 47,393-sq ft Next.

Bert Martin, development director at the Westgate Alliance, said: “We are creating a world-class retail and leisure destination that will ensure Oxford’s shopping and dining offer is synonymous with its world-renowned heritage status.”

The 800,000-sq ft city centre development is due for completion in autumn 2017. Following the granting of Outline Planning Permission in March 2014, Westgate’s detailed design proposals and reserved matters have been submitted. A decision is due in the autumn ahead of the scheduled commencement of works on site in early 2015. CBRE and Cushman & Wakefield act as joint retail leasing agents for Westgate Alliance, while Davis Coffer Lyons acts as the food and beverage leasing agent.
