First Open store in UK completes Westgate transformation
Published:  26 September, 2014

The arrival of the UK’s first branch of Open marks the completion of a major re-letting programme at Westgate in Stevenage.

Open, the new menswear concept store from JD Sports, has signed for a 2,500 sq ft unit, the last in a run of eight created by centre owners WD in a bid to transform the scheme and the fashion offer in Stevenage.

Eight popular high street fashion stores have been created anchored by a new two-floor 20,000 sq ft H&M store that opened earlier this year. The new fashion line-up includes a new 5,000 sq ft Bonmarché, Miss Selfridge, Dorothy Perkins, Bank, River Island and Blue Inc.

Peter Everest, managing director of WD, said: “The new Open store is the first in the UK and sits adjacent to JD’s Bank store. The strength of the fashion offer at Westgate has really made its mark locally and is attracting fashion lovers back into the town. We have achieved a huge amount in the short time we have owned the scheme and are pleased to be contributing to the revival of Stevenage as a thriving retail destination.’’

Letting agents for WD are Brian Oakwell & Co and JP Retail.
