Woking’s Victoria Square planning submitted

Published:  24 January, 2014

Two planning applications have been submitted for the redevelopment of the western part of Woking Town Centre to deliver Victoria Square, a retail-led mixed use scheme.

The Victoria Square proposal will deliver 125,000 sq ft of new retail floorspace anchored by a 60,000 sq ft Marks & Spencer; a 190 bed four star hotel with conference facilities, spa and gym; 392 residential apartments; a medical centre; 380 additional car parking spaces, two new public plazas, and a new fire station.

The developments will be delivered by Bandstand Square Developments Limited (BSDL), a joint venture between Moyallen, owners of Peacocks shopping centre, Surrey County Council and Woking Borough Council.

Peter Robinson, managing director of Moyallen, said: "This is an important milestone for Woking, and highlights the growing confidence in the town from the public and private sectors. Victoria Square will be a high quality addition to the existing Woking Shopping offer, complementing the strong line-up of brands with new retailers and other amenities, led by a flagship Marks and Spencer. The plans add to the sense of momentum in Woking."
