WD Westgate Partners and Stevenage Borough Council have kicked off the main phase of their regeneration of Westgate Shopping Centre, Stevenage with a 20,000-sq ft letting to H&M. The letting to H&M follows recent lettings to both Miss Selfridge and Bank and the new store will be handed over towards the end of the year for a Spring 2014 opening.
Stevenage Borough Council and WD have worked together to create the necessary land and arrangements for this development. This cooperation will see major changes to the 350-space multi-storey car park with new access ramps and the car circulation reversed.
WD purchased Westgate from Aviva in March 2012 for £8.4m. The programme of expansion and refurbishment comprises expenditures of some £3.5m.
Peter Everest of WD said: “This is a major part of our regeneration of Westgate and we see this as a major stepping stone towards bringing new fashion and brands to the town.”
Brian Oakwell & Company and JP Retail acted for WD.
