Festive boost to tenant line-up at Merseyway

Published:  02 December, 2011

Retailers have been snapping up units at Stockport’s Merseyway shopping centre in time for the Christmas rush, taking it to almost fully let.

Merseyway’s managing agent GVA reports five new temporary tenants including national retailers Past Times and Calendar Club, clothing store Kiwi Fashions, Joe Mulhearn which specialises in Christmas goods, and footwear and accessories store Solewish.

The new tenants have taken a combined total of 12,518 sq ft.

Merseyway has seen footfall figures rise by 20 per cent on 2010 figures, boosted by the arrival of Primark.

Mark Rawstron, senior director of GVA in Manchester said: “The current outlook for the shopping centre is extremely positive. Merseyway is not only attracting new tenants, but also retaining current tenants. Christmas is a key time for retailers and we’re hopeful that Merseyway’s new temporary stores will succeed in reaping strong sales during the festive period.”

The letting agents for Merseyway shopping centre are Savills and Tushingham Moore.
